IT Administrator

We are looking for a self-motivated individual that is interested in working across Linux, MS Windows, network, and laboratory equipment environments to manage and support our IT infrastructure. We are primarily looking for an experienced lead for our system administration efforts but are open to candidates at multiple levels as determined by experience and the number of “should have” and “nice-to-have” qualifications below.
Must Have
- Proficiency in Linux and/or Microsoft Windows system administration and user support
- The X-factor: the ability to recognize the problem that is not yet solved and envision the solution that does not yet exist.
- US Citizenship
- Willingness and ability to pursue US DoD security clearance
Should Have
Experience with enterprise grade information technology administration
Aptitude for setting up and securing network resources
Ability to collect, process, and assess log information
Ability to work both individually and in distributed multi-disciplinary development teams
Verbal and written communications skills
Nice-to-Have
Experience managing Active Directory, Kerberos, and LDAP user controls
Experience with Intune device management
Experience configuring AWS and Azure cloud services
Experience setting up and maintaining secured computing resources
Ability to supervise and train others for IT administration tasks
Knowledge of defensive and offensive security methods for computers and networks
Current US DoD security clearance
Location - Blacksburg, VA
Travel Requirements - This position is primarily in support of our Blacksburg offices, but occasional travel may be required to support other locations, including Atlanta, GA and Dayton, OH.
